New, sophisticated conversion fitting from Häfele

(5/28/2009 12:00:00 AM) It’s a real quick-change artist: Häfele has now come up with a new, extremely sophisticated conversion fitting that turns a bed into a desk and vice-versa with just a few manual operations. One furniture item for two requirements – the ideal solution in situations where space is at a premium.

The key: The table becomes a bed in no time at all, without even having to be cleared first. This is made possible by the unique movement of this intelligent hardware system. The table top always remains in a horizontal position. It glides downwards without any-thing sliding or falling off. When the bed is folded down there is plenty of space between the table top and the bed for a PC, a display screen and some files. Next morning the bed is folded away again and disappears in the rear panel of the furniture. The fully operational desk then reappears, on which every-thing is arranged as it was the evening before. Two retaining pins prevent the desk from unintentionally collapsing of the desk under load.

Additionally integrated storage spaces, lighting and other functions make the furniture ultra-flexible and individually usable. Predestined usage areas are children’s rooms or student rooms, guest rooms, duty rooms in hospitals or hotels, in caravans or in ship-building – everywhere where space is restricted or the bed is only occasionally needed.

Two versions of Häfele’s new conversion fitting are available: Variant one produces a comfortable lying area of 900 x 2,000 mm, and variant 2 produces an area of 1,400 x 2,000 mm – ideal for a guest bed in which even two people can sleep.

The hardware system is also suitable for industrial furniture manufacture, since the provided CAD data makes installation quick, easy and error-free.
A hardware sets consists of two gas-filled struts that are adjusted to the relevant bed weight, two support-ing arms with fixing mechanism, two retaining plates for the table top and fastening materials. The entire hardware package weighs just 4 kg and is no bigger than an umbrella.

The new conversion fitting from Häfele is extremely practical and makes it possible for industry, cabinet makers and interior fitters to build furniture for indi-vidual requirements and different user groups.
